They are cute. If I were to get a dog (which I never will because they demand too much care) I might consider a Maltese. Not familiar with the other breed. It looks like a poodle to me...
Bichons used to be the dogs of the French royalty. They love their owners, but demand lots of attention. Every Bichon I have ever seen has always been a bundle of energy. The Maltese is a bit more docile and obedient. (They're all over Southern Cali, I know...)
